Two popular Toowoomba bars close without warning

TWO popular Toowoomba bars have closed their doors, only operating for one year after major renovations.

It's lights out at The Office and The Chelsea Bar, with the owners posting a goodbye and thank you message on both Facebook pages.

It read: "We'd like to thank you all for your support through the last few years of The Office/The Chelsea Bar. The Office Bar/The Chelsea Bar is now closed and has ceased operating. There are exciting things to come with the space that was The Office/The Chelsea... so keep a look out mid-July."

The Office opened in January 2016 by Kenneth Wagner and business partner Michael Hay, one year later it was sold to Worldwide Hospitality Group.

They closed for renovations, where they added an alleyway where patrons could wine and dine, as well as The Chelsea Bar, a bespoke cocktail bar.

It reopened to the public in May 2017.

Earlier this year Worldwide Hospitality Group went into liquidation and both bars were taken over by an new entity in April, Junk Queensland Pty Ltd.

The bar was a go-to spot in Toowoomba and the two-storey establishment featured the activation of an alleyway and terrace views.

The contemporary bar was aimed at attracting the lucrative inner city after-work crowd.

But it doesn't all appear to be bad news with the owners hinting something new and exciting will be taking its place.
