Lockyer Valley and Gatton the places to take analog TVs

SOUTH-EAST Queensland has made the changeover from analogue to digital television and the question now is what will happen to all of the outdated television sets?

Lockyer Valley Mayor Steve Jones said rather than simply throwing them away, residents were able to take television sets to one of the Lockyer Valley Waste Transfer Stations or the Gatton Landfill site where they would be stockpiled and taken away for dismantling and recycling.

"I would encourage residents to take in their old television screens as part of the National Computer and Television Recycling Scheme," he said.

"As well as television sets, you can take in computer monitors, printers and other computer-related products.

"In the past all of these products have simply been considered waste but this scheme gives us the opportunity to recycle the goods in a far more environmentally friendly manner."

There is no fee for bringing in these items.
