No excuses, follow your dreams
NO MONEY is no excuse for not taking the plunge and seeking adventure, according to Gladstone resident Kiara Austin.
Ms Austin, a full-time university student, will be leaving Gladstone next week in order to travel Europe.
“I love travelling and I’m really excited about this latest adventure,” Ms Austin said.
“I want to travel Europe, using London as a base. At the moment I’m all set to go to Oktoberfest, Italy, France, Amsterdam as well as a trip to Russia in November.”
Ms Austin was sceptical young Australians were unable to pursue life-changing experiences because of a lack of cash.
“I work in a service station on a casual wage,” she said. “If I can do it, anyone can.”
Ms Austin also said it was up to the individual to follow their dreams and not to list other circumstances as excuses as to why they couldn’t do what they really wanted.
“I’ve been in a relationship for four years, but he doesn’t want to come, so I’m going anyway,” she said.
“There’s always an excuse not to do something, but if you really want (to do it) you will make it happen.”
Ms Austin, who is 20 years old, said the twenties was the perfect time to pursue adventure.
“As you get older, it will legitimately get harder to drop everything and go,” she said.
“People should take advantage of opportunities when they’ve got no strings.”
