Mother who tried to get drugs into prison faces court again
A MOTHER-OF-FOUR landed herself back in-front of a judge after breaching a suspended sentence she received for trying to smuggle drugs into prison.
In May last year, Jameela Micah Pehi, 27, was handed down a four month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months when she was found with nine buprenorphine strips - used for treating opiate addiction - down her bra which she intended to deliver to her then-boyfriend at the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre.
The pair had been discussing the drug drop over the phone and police were waiting for Pehi when she tried to visit the facility.
Just four-and-a-half months into the operational period, Pehi stole baby play suits from Baby Bunting in Kawana which police later found at her home.
Pehi was given 12 months probation in the Caloundra Magistrates Court, but today pleaded guilty in Maroochydore District Court to breaching her sentence.
Judge David Andrews said while Pehi had previous entries on her criminal history for stealing offences, she would better serve "Australian society by looking after her four children" and extended her operational period by 12 months.
