Larrikins bond TV world race
RACING around the world has been a bonding experience for Adam and Dane Corowa.
The cousins, who grew up together in Tweed Heads, are the first indigenous team to compete on Channel 7's The Amazing Race Australia.
They are one of 11 teams vying for the $250,000 grand prize.
"We've always been close because we're family but it just emphasised how much fun we used to have when we were kids," Adam said.
"It was a great experience for us, something to tell the kids.
My daughter's got a photo out of the magazine up on her wall. It says Eva's dad on there. She's pretty psyched about it."
Adam, a father of two and a merchant seaman, still lives in the Tweed, while the younger
Dane has moved to Brisbane for his job as a cardiac scientist.
The cousins believe their personalities and close relationship make them strong competitors in the round-the-world race, which includes destinations never before featured in any of the Amazing Race franchises.
"Adam was probably the more competitive nature and just wanted to rip right in where I was a bit more strategic," Dane said.
Adam and Dane hope their larrikin spirit translates on to television screens.
"I hope they portray us how we're laughing and mucking around," Adam said.
