Just call me 'Toast'
STOPPING over in Campbelltown to grab a quick cuppa and a great bite to eat from Janet and her crew at the Half Way Deli, we were happy to catch up with Toast ("just call me Toast”) from Wynyard.
He had rolled in driving a Wynyard Contracting Services 2016 Mack Superliner 685 and towing a flat deck tri-axle trailer.
"I'm on my way home to Wynyard from Port Huon down the Huon, where I took a load of pipes this morning, and it was a bit chilly,” he said.
"I've been here with this outfit for about nine years now, and they are a great outfit all round, working all over the state and operating top gear, and as you noticed, I sure do like the Superliner!
"You can call me 'Toast', but the Boss has been known to call me 'point five'.
"I reckon I've been driving now for about all my life, maybe 35 years or so, trucks or diggers, and I've never looked back, basically it's all good and keeps me happy.”
We asked him about time off, and he said: "I guess that's not a lot of time, but I do a bit of everything and like to spend time with the kids”.
