High praise given to movie shot in Western Downs
THE premiere showing of Australian movie The Second was met with cheers in Dalby over the weekend.
Shot in the Western Downs, mainly at Jimbour House and Jandowae, the cast, crew and community witnessed the finished product at the Dalby Civic Theatre on Saturday afternoon.
The film used many locals as extras, adding to the excitement of the day. Writer and producer of the movie, Stephen Lance, said he was pleased the movie had been released.
"It was such a joy to shoot here and not only be supported by the people, but the location and the environment,” he said.
"It is about a female friendship and the complexities of that friendship as it intertwines around a dark secret, inspired by thrillers of the 1980s.”
Director Mairi Cameron said she was happy the first screen of the play was in Dalby, so the cast and crew could share the excitement with the community.
"For me as a director it is nerve racking and incredibly exciting,” she said.
"I'm just so thrilled we were able to have our first screening out here in Dalby, with the community who rallied around us.”
