Grassland Art Gallery presents fresh exhibition
LOCAL Blackall and Tambo artists will be proudly displaying their art work at the opening of the Whispers from the Grasslands exhibition this Saturday.
Artist and organiser of the show, Cassie Swanson, attributes the growing interest in exhibiting to the number of workshops presented in both towns each year by talented and well-known artists and tutors.
"The works will not have been previously exhibited, so the exhibition will be fresh, interesting and different; a real showcase of the talent in our community,” she said.
From Tambo, the exhibition will include artworks by visual artists, Swanson, Kiralee Sanderson, Pam Pullos, Jill Pavy, Eboni Wright, Brenda Kemp, Jade Movigliatti and Wendy Keen, as well as wood, steel and sculptural wok by Pip Fearon, Kelly Johnson and David Still and horn work by Stacey
Ryrie.
Blackall artists exhibiting include Lindy Hardie, Jill Taylor, Kylie Banks, Lesley Heatley and Sally Campbell.
Arts and Cultural officer, Alison Shaw believes tourists who visit the gallery are looking to view works created by the people who live in these regions and really want to see artistic interpretations of the Outback by local artists.
Tambo Arts Council president Kiralee Sanderson has been busy putting the final touches on her own paintings as she gets ready to collate and display the collective exhibition.
"This year artists have created works in a variety of media and I am looking really forward to welcoming them all to Grasslands, as some are new to exhibiting in our gallery,” she said.
Whispers from the Grasslands will open at the Grassland Art Gallery on Saturday, June 8 at noon, where people can join the artists for relaxing lunch in the gallery courtyard.
The exhibition will be on display until the beginning of August.
