Fifth Wiggle steals the show

THE Wiggles may have drawn the crowds for their second performance at the Clive Berghofer Recreation Centre yesterday, but it was Toowoomba man Mitchell Bathurst who stole the show.

Mr Bathurst won a YouTube competition to perform as the fifth Wiggle during the show.

"It was just great," Mr Bathurst said.

"It was so much fun even if I didn't know entirely what I was doing."

He might not have been completely up to scratch with his Fruit Salad lyrics, but in the end he just went with it and even attempted a front-flip to impress the crowds.

"It was completely impulsive to do the flip, especially because I've never actually landed one before."

The crowds appreciated his efforts none-the-less, even if his singing was a little off key.

"I was practising the lyrics in the car on the way to the show," he said.

"But my daughter doesn't really like my singing and tells me to stop, so I guess I should have known."

The Wiggles were in town as part of their 20th anniversary national tour.
