Emergency services minister to be briefed on flood damage

NSW Emergency Services Minister David Elliott is in Lismore this morning, where he will be briefed by the Richmond-Tweed SES about the damage caused during last week's storms.

He will join Lismore MP Thomas George at the SES headquarters in Goonellabah this morning.

They will also present the volunteers of the Lismore SES unit with a $5000 grant for the installation of an automatic roller door system to provide better access to the unit's emergency response vehicle.

Mr Elliott and Mr George will then head to Richmond River High School to inspect the effect the floods had on the school, which was closed to students and staff all last week while the clean-up was under way.

Later this morning Mr Elliott will officially handover a new fire truck to the crew at the Alphadale Rural Fire Service.

He will also talk to the volunteers about the role the volunteers played during the wild weather.
