Drayton woman plans to wear sarong: cruise winner
DRAYTON woman Alice Harris says her family bugged her to go on a cruise for quite some time.
Now she has no excuse as the 75-year-old won a $5000 voucher to take the cruise of her choice.
The win comes from the second chance draw in The Chronicle's Bill Busters Bingo competition.
Mrs Harris said she was the real winner.
"I'm planning my outfits - I'm going to wear a sarong," she laughed.
"I've never been on a cruise and they keep telling me to go so now I'm really looking forward to it."
Mrs Harris is unsure where she would like to go but will take her daughter Trish McNaughton, her son-in-law and three granddaughters.
At the moment they are considering a trip up the coastline to Cairns or perhaps New Zealand.
Mrs Harris said she enjoyed entering competitions.
"I've never won anything major; I won $7 in the lotto last month," she laughed
"I just always like doing those things. Since my husband died I haven't had much to do and I look at everything in the paper," she said.
Mrs Harris tried her luck in the bingo competition but had five unsuccessful playing cards.
Mrs McNaughton encouraged her to enter the competition for the cruise. When she notified Mrs Harris she had won, Mrs Harris thought she was joking.
Mrs Harris has previously travelled to Fiji, Tasmania, Hamilton Island and Cairns.
She is looking forward to sailing away and seeing new horizons.
