David Strassman helps to keep the show running

DAVID Strassman brought more than just world class entertainment to Proserpine last week.

He also helped raise money to go towards the restoring the Proserpine Show Pavilion following extensive damage caused by Cyclone Debbie.

Artist Jacinta Beatts painted a picture for David Strassman after his performance and he reciprocated this generosity by auctioning it off and donating the proceeds to a community cause.

Kyle Baird took ownership of the painting as the highest bidder, offering $500 for the piece of art.

Proserpine Entertainment Centre manager Chris Patrick said he knew the Proserpine Showgrounds would need all the help they could get.

"David Strassman loved the painting but couldn't take it, so he donated it back and auctioned it off for the community,” he said.

"The Showgrounds took a battering so we thought why not put the money towards the Pavillion.”

Arts and Craft Pavilion steward Colleen Johnson said the Proserpine Show Committee would greatly appreciate every gesture of support.

"The Arts and Craft Pavilion is over 70 years old and has been through a number of cyclones, but this one finished it,” she said.

David Stassman performed his renowned iTedE show on May 15 at Proserpine RSL.
