Dalby plays host to Queensland's finest performers

TO SEE nine of our state's top theatre troupes together today sharing laughs, telling war stories of past performances, and celebrating as one big ensemble, you never would have guessed that mere hours before they were on stage competing at Dalby's Annual Drama Festival.

The Little Players Theatre opened its doors for the event, and showcased nine plays on its stage for the 25th consecutive year.

Theatre companies travelled to Dalby from all corners of Queensland for the Festival, and all left with a profound respective for their craft, each other and, if they were lucky, a few trophies in their back pockets.

It was a tough choice for adjudicator Tara Routley, but only a select few could win the prestigious awards:

First place: Caught in the Act, Downstage Theatre Group

Second place: As You Were, Wallflower Theatre Company

Third place: Bubbles, Ipswich Little Theatre

Best Director: David Harrison, Caught in the Act

Playwright's award: Brenna Corben and Sarah Esser, As You Were

Best actor, male: Matthew Horner, As You Were

Best actor, female: Jessica Ham, Caught in the Act

Best supporting actor, male: Arun Clarke, Zeroes

Best supporting actor, female: Kate Mallory, Bubbles

Best actor in a minor role, male: Cody Muller, Defcon Rising

Best actor in a minor role, female: Judy Beattie, Zeroes
