Crows Nest goes on show

THIS year's 2011 Heritage Building Society Crows Nest Show is jam-packed with entertainment, with doors opening at 8am tomorrow and the fun not stopping until midnight.

Show volunteer Jessica Bridges said the judging events would be held today, with the main show day starting tomorrow at the Crows Nest Showgrounds.

“It's shaping up to be a very good show this year. We've already have a record number of entries in our photography competition with over 1000 entries received,” Miss Bridges said.

“Our big cattle sale kicks off at 10am with the grand parade at 12.30pm.”

Miss Bridges said show highlights includes chainsaw and wood chopping competitions, a pet parade, ute show, heavy horses display, whip cracking and Pinky the Crazy Cowgirl.

The 2011 event will also feature a Crows Nest-first in the form of a tractor pull event, entertainment from Nick Lindsay and his band, a licensed bar, barbecue and fireworks.

“It's a day packed full of entertainment for all ages,” Miss Bridges said.

“We've had a lot of volunteers this year and everyone is working hard at getting it all together.

“Our Miss Showgirl Bianca Christiansen raised more than $4700 this year which is a fantastic effort.”

Entry to the Crows Nest Show is $12 for adults, $4 for juniors aged from five to 17, $9 for pensioners and free for kids under Year 1.
