Best of Sport: We want to find our region's best volunteer

THE CHRONICLE sports team kicks off a new series this week.

Sport has always been a cornerstone of Toowoomba and the Darling Downs, and we're set to shine a new light on our sporting communities, clubs and athletes.

Our Best of Series is all about honouring the passion and dedication we see on and off the field at all levels of the game.

We will kick-off the new series with a call out for the region's best sports club volunteer.

Without volunteers fields aren't marked, jerseys stay stinky and stained, hot chocolates go cold, hot chips remain raw and players are sidelined.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of sports clubs everywhere.

Now it's up to you - the reader - to nominate your favourite volunteer.

It can be a coach, official, team strapper, canteen person or club president - as long as they're a volunteer they can be nominated.

Once nominations are in, our sports team will compile a premium article with the list of nominees, and create a poll which people can vote in.

This poll will run for two days.

A list of the nominees will also run in the newspaper, directing people online to vote.

Once voting closing, votes will be tallied and the winner announced.

They will appear in the newspaper, our website and Facebook page.
